“Laughter is the best medicine”
Genevieve Yates is a doctor and medical educator in regional Australia. When not healing the sick or teaching the healers, she likes to indulge in a range of creative pursuits.
She is a regular columnist for Australian Doctor, has had several short stories, a novel and a play published, a short film produced and four plays staged. She’s worked in film and TV, and performed on stage in plays, musicals and stand-up comedy, and as well teaches violin, plays piano, sings and plays in two orchestras.
Genevieve is passionate about putting creativity into medicine, and medicine into creativity. She uses film, theatre and music in her teaching of GP registrars and supervisors, and finds that medicine inspires and complements her writing and vice versa.
This website features a collection of her writings. Here you will find links to and samples of her newspaper columns, novel, short stories, plays and creative medical educational material.
